As the Cobra Experience museum wraps up this raffle, your chance to win this 50th Anniversary Shelby 289 FIA Cobra is also coming to a close. However, there is still time to get your name in the hat with a generous donation that will help the museum promote, conserve, educate, and preserve Shelby cars.
In 1962, production started on the 289 FIA Cobra Roadster, but it wasn’t until Shelby American got ahold of five examples that this car became a legend, winning the 1965 World Manufacturers Championship. Piloting these cars alongside the Daytona Coupes, legendary drivers such as Ken Miles, Bob Bondurant, Phil Hill, and Dan Gurney dominated the winner’s circles in the U.S. and Europe. Unfortunately these cars were largely reserved for the racetrack making them a hard find today.
As with many successful cars, many have tried to replicate the Cobra Roadster but coming across a genuine Shelby licensed car is still a rare occurrence. This example built by Superformance is one of just 50 built that were licensed by Shelby American. Titled as a 1964 replica, stunning 50th Anniversary Shelby 289 FIA Cobra Roadster (CSX7962) is now being raffled off with just 3,000 miles showing on the clock and all you have to do to be entered to win is make a charitable donation to the Cobra Experience Museum. Your donation will support the museum’s mission to promote, conserve, educate and preserve the cars produced by Shelby American for future generations to admire.
On top of being an excellent car constructed of strong hand-laid fiberglass finished in a stunning Viking Blue with white roundels and a yellow team stripe, this Shelby 289 FIA Cobra Roadster also features a dashboard that has been signed by Allen Grant, Bob Bondurant, and Pete Brock. It has also been upgraded with a 302 V8 engine that has been bored and stroked to 363-cid mated to a Tremec TKO-600 5-speed transmission. What could be better than winning a 500-horsepower Cobra Roadster that is listed in the Shelby American Automobile Registry and signed by some of the drivers that helped make the car so successful?
