The late American automotive icon Carroll Shelby is played by Matt Damon, and British driver Ken Miles is played by Christian Bale. Set in the '60s, the two are sent by Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca to build the GT40 in hopes to take down Ferrari during the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France back in 1966. This is the first movie revolving around Motorsports to take home an Academy Award since the mid-'70s. Under the hood is a Roush 427-cubic-inch SR mated to a Tremec TKO-600 transmission that was donated by renowned Cobra restorer David Wagner of Classic Motorsports. Mechanical highlights include a "Road Race" front sump oil pan, 660 CFM carburetor, a dual plane intake manifold, Roush aluminum heads, and a hydraulic roller cam. A 17-gallon stainless steel fuel tank keeps the engine quenched, and a high-performance aluminum radiator with twin electric fans keeps temperatures in check. Power is sent down to the rear wheels through an aluminum limited-slip differential. Stopping is provided by Wilwood power disc 4-piston brakes. The silver ceramic-coated side pipes will announce your presence from a mile away. With everything combined, this stunning Cobra makes 510-horsepower.
