These No-Reserve Porsches All Under $500k Are Coming to Auction Early March

The thing about Porsches is that they never go out of style, no matter the era. Maybe that’s why there are so many Porsche fanatics out there. But, because demand remains consistent, it can be difficult to find them at a competitive price.

That’s when no-reserve auctions come into play. If you have been thinking about buying a Porsche, you need to be utilizing this – it basically means that there is no minimum price necessary to buy the car at auction, so you may be able to get a really good deal. The auction company Gooding Christie's has a sale in a week or so chocked full of stunning Porsches, all at no reserve and under $500k. Whether you're looking to start your own collection or looking for a great value on a Porsche, this will be the perfect opportunity for you.

You can register to bid at home on your computer or on the go with your phone here. And before we forget, you should set your calendar notifications for March 6 & 7.

Now for the Porsches themselves. They’re really offering every flavor of Porsche at this auction starting from the 1950s through the more modern selections from the early 2000s. This 1960 Porsche 356 B Coupe is one of five 357 B Beutler Porsche Coupes, and has a unique coach build making it superb for the top-level concours circuit. With a 1,582 cc OHV air-cooled flat 4-cylinder engine and twin Zenith carburetors, it’s an incredible buy.

If 90s Porsches are more your thing, you ought to check out the gorgeous 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera S, 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo, and 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera Targa. The 993 Carrera S is a pristine example with only 26,000 km and an alluring Blue Turquoise over Midnight Blue interior. The Turbo boasts a stunning white over red color combo with a highly-desirable Rest of World specification and no sunroof, as well as a 3,608 cc twin-turbocharged SOHC flat 6-cylinder engine. Rounding things out, the 1996 Targa has Porsche’s first power-retracting panoramic glass roof, just over 50,000 km from new, and is a rare variant from Porsche’s final generation of air-cooled 911s.

In the super-charged catalogue, you’ll find more gems, like the 1966 Porsche 911 2.0, which has its original color combination and has been in its current ownership for nearly 20 years. It has undergone an extensive restoration retaining its original interior, and you can tell it’s a pure expression of an early 911.

The 1960 Porsche 365 B Roadster is as classic as you can get, with its matching-numbers engine, transaxle per factory records, and air cooled flat four-cylinder engine. The 2002 Porsche 998 Carrera 4 Gemballa GTR 500 may be a lot newer, but it’s equally classic with over $141,000 in Gemballa mods, like 18” Gemballa/Speedline wheels, a carbon hood and performance exhaust. It’s rare, distinctive, and thrilling to drive.

Rounding out the no-minimum-price picks is the Ken Roath Collection. Three mid-century Porsches featured in this are any Porsche lover’s dream – buy one or buy them all. The 1954 Porsche 356 1500 Coupe is finished in elegant, as-delivered black over beige, a chic complement to the bent window coupe. It has also undergone a show-quality restoration by noted 356 specialist and judge Jim Liberty of Costa Mesa, CA. It retains its matching-numbers engine and transaxle to boot!

The 1965 Porsche 336 SC Cabriolet has been retained by one fastidious owner for almost four decades, which makes the matching-numbers engine and body panels that much more exciting. The striking Togo Brown over Fawn upholstery could impress even the most scrutinizing Porsche collector. And of course, you can’t forget the 1952 Porsche 356 1500 Super Coupe, an early Pre-A bent window coupe – the 2,029th example, if we’re being exact. It comes desirably equipped with an 70 HP Super engine and deluxe package and is an eight-time 1000 Miglia veteran.

So now that we’ve established that no-reserve auctions make for a lot of purchasing opportunities, you’ve gotta check out Gooding Christie’s Amelia Island Auctions. In the meantime, you can learn more through the Gooding Christie’s online catalogue or register to bid if you’re pouncing on a Porsche.
