In 1964, the best way to get your performance was from a European sports car manufacturer who knew exactly what they were doing. Jaguar is a great example of that featuring models that outdid virtually any Performance Based automobile on the road at the time. We all love small body cars with relatively big engines in them, something that the Americans would find out later in the same decade. However, Jaguar realized this from the beginning which is why we see models like this Roadster. So what makes it such a great car for the era?
Built-in 1964, this Jaguar XKE Series 1 Roadster attracts the eye to its incredibly British body lines with a bright red paint job. On top of that, with the Vintage wire wheels and black soft top, we're pretty good at doing the same even if those are highly underrated aspects of automotive design. Of course, performance is primarily what this sports car deals with which is exactly why the 3.8 L inline-six engine was such a great option for the Jag. On top of that, this car's driver would never get bored changing gears with the 4-speed manual transmission.
All of this is utilized perfectly by a set of triple carburetors which let the powerhouse breathe deeply for better power output. If you're worried about safety, don't be, because this Jaguar has four-wheel disc brakes unlike pretty much anything in its time. Truly, this was an Innovative European sports car that pushed the limits of modernity to make a vintage automobile we can all appreciate today. Well that 160 mph mark featured on the speedometer may never be reached again, whoever drives it next will have a blast driving around a predominant piece of sports car history. The only question is who that driver will be.
