Revamped 1968 Dodge Charger Pays Tribute to Bullitt with Modern Muscle Upgrades

A fully restored 1968 Dodge Charger, inspired by Bullitt, merges classic muscle car charm with modern performance upgrades.

The iconic 1968 Dodge Charger, synonymous with Steve McQueen’s legendary car chase in Bullitt, has been reborn with a modern twist, thanks to the restoration experts at Just Driven in Southern California. Originally intended for a movie studio to recreate the timeless film, this classic muscle car has been meticulously restored and upgraded to provide a driving experience that bridges the past and present. Just Driven built the Charger to its original Bullitt spec, with original suspension and 14" wheels. It was our shop at RestoMods that, after acquiring the car, upgraded the car with modern suspension, fuel injection and bigger wheels and tires.

Under the hood, this Charger roars with a 440 cubic inch Magnum V8 engine, pushing out a robust 600 horsepower. The engine is paired with a Silver Sport T56 six-speed manual transmission, giving drivers the thrill of controlling all that power on the open road. But it doesn’t stop there; this car isn’t just about raw muscle. Just Driven has integrated modern performance features, like a FiTech classic black EFI system for fuel injection, ensuring reliability and efficiency without sacrificing power.

To handle the immense power output, the Charger is equipped with a QA1 coilover suspension kit for superior handling and ride quality. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood power disc brakes and a master cylinder, ensuring this muscle car can halt just as swiftly as it can accelerate. Meanwhile, an Edelbrock intake manifold and stainless tubular headers optimize engine performance, and dual electric fans keep the beast cool even during the most intense drives.

Aesthetically, this Charger pays homage to its Bullitt heritage while incorporating modern flair. The exterior is dressed in a pristine triple black paint job, complemented by American Racing "Groove" wheels wrapped in Falken tires. Inside, the cabin retains its classic appeal with a fully restored factory vinyl interior but adds contemporary comforts such as a Vintage Air HVAC system to keep passengers comfortable year-round.

To top it all off, the Charger includes $20,000 in cash, making this already tempting piece of automotive history even more enticing for muscle car enthusiasts and collectors alike. Whether you're a fan of classic American muscle or a die-hard Bullitt aficionado, this ‘68 Charger offers a unique blend of nostalgia and modern engineering excellence.
