Iconic right-hand-drive DB5 restored to original spec, upgraded to 4.2L, and finished in rare Caribbean Pearl over Fawn leather.
A meticulously restored 1964 Aston Martin DB5, one of the most revered British grand tourers of the 20th century, is being offered for sale in exceptional condition with its original chassis and matching-numbers engine, now upgraded to 4.2-liter specification.

Chassis number DB5/1661/R, delivered new on August 20, 1964, to Leeds, England, exemplifies the model that became synonymous with luxury, performance, and pop culture prestige. Famously driven by James Bond in Goldfinger, the DB5 quickly earned its reputation as an icon of style and innovation.

Originally finished in California Sage over Fawn Connolly leather, the right-hand-drive coupe underwent a full, body-off restoration in 2000 by Aston Martin specialists Post Vintage Engineers of West Yorkshire. The car was refinished in the rare and striking shade of Caribbean Pearl, while the interior was reupholstered to its original Fawn leather specification.
During the comprehensive restoration, the 4.0-liter Tadek Marek-designed inline-six engine was upgraded to 4.2-liter specs with Cosworth pistons, and the cylinder head was modified to run on unleaded fuel. A stainless-steel exhaust system was added for improved performance and durability. The suspension, axles, brakes, and ZF five-speed manual transmission were also fully rebuilt. Additional upgrades include a newly recored radiator, high-capacity water pump, and discreet under-dash air conditioning, along with enhanced insulation for touring comfort.

Maintained and enjoyed regularly since its restoration, the DB5 remains a centerpiece of the current owner's collection, reflecting both concours-quality attention to detail and mechanical reliability. With fewer than 900 DB5 coupes built during its brief 1963–1965 production run, examples of this caliber—retaining originality while offering tasteful performance upgrades—are increasingly sought after by collectors.
This Caribbean Pearl DB5 presents a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Aston Martin heritage, equally suited for concours showings or long-distance touring in unmistakable style.
