Designed by F.A. Porsche, the 904 GTS was the first Porsche to used a fiberglass-reinforced plastic body to help shed some curb weight. Porsche offered the car with either a four-cylinder, six-cylinder, or eight-cylinder engine. Perhaps the most famous victory using the Porsche 904 GTS was when Edgar Barth and Umberto Maglioli won the prototype class at the Targa Florio in 1964.
This example is one of only 107 produced, and it was sold by the factory 'Verkauft von Werk' to Italian racer Ernesto Prinoth. Additionally, it is a rare matching-numbers example, fitted with Type 587/3 180 PS 'Sport' Fuhrmann four-cam engine, Sebring race exhaust system. It was the subject of a recent restoration work by Emory Motorsports. With this purchase of this car, it also includes owner's manual, sales brochure, and a digital copy of its Kardex.
