The legendary "Shaguar," the Jaguar E-Type roadster from the Austin Powers trilogy, will cross the auction block in 2025.
An iconic piece of cinematic and automotive history is set to dazzle car enthusiasts at the Mecum Kissimmee 2025 auction. The 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster, famously known as the "Shaguar" from the Austin Powers trilogy, will be up for bidding on January 18th.
This singular roadster debuted in the 1997 hit Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and remained the only vehicle used in all three films, as well as in Madonna's Beautiful Stranger music video. Driven by Mike Myers and co-starring alongside the franchise's leading ladies, this E-Type became a pop culture icon, merging the timeless style of the Jaguar with the cheeky charm of the swinging '60s spy spoof.
Initially manufactured on December 8, 1967, the Jaguar E-Type was originally finished in Opalescent Silver Blue with a blue convertible top and a dark blue interior. It features a 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine, a four-speed manual transmission, leather upholstery, and classic wire wheels. This particular model, bearing body number 4E8526, underwent significant restoration by Jaguar Land Rover in the mid-2000s and has since received a comprehensive mechanical update.
The roadster has been held in a private collection since the Austin Powers series concluded but has occasionally been loaned to Jaguar Land Rover for special corporate events. The car’s provenance is supported by authentication letters from Josh Hancock, the Picture Car Coordinator, and Ray Claridge, owner of Cinema Vehicle Services, who prepared and maintained the vehicle for the films.
Fans of Austin Powers and classic cars alike will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own this distinctive piece of Hollywood history. With its vibrant red, white, and blue paint scheme, the "Shaguar" is a collector’s dream, celebrating both Jaguar’s legendary craftsmanship and its playful on-screen legacy. Groovy, baby!
