Custom Hellcat-Based 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda Tribute With 707 HP, Just 55 Miles, Heads to Auction

One-of-ten Hellcat-based ’71 Cuda tribute with carbon fiber body, 707 HP, and custom pink finish to cross Mecum Indy block.

A modern muscle car with vintage attitude and 707 horsepower is heading to the auction block as a rare, custom-built 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda tribute based on a 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The vehicle, which has just 55 miles on the odometer, will be offered by Mecum Auctions at its Indy 2025 event on May 16.

One of only 10 such conversions planned, this example—number four in the series—blends contemporary Hellcat performance with bespoke craftsmanship that took more than 3,000 hours to complete. The result is a carbon fiber-bodied modern throwback that visually channels the iconic third-generation Barracuda, penned by designer John Herlitz.

Finished in a bold metallic pink with exposed carbon fiber accents on the hood and rear quarters, the car features CNC-machined details, a new grille, custom taillights, and round headlights retained from the original Challenger. It sits on three-piece custom black alloys, with matching pink brake calipers, and a center-mounted dual-exit exhaust system.

While the bodywork harks back to 1971, the interior remains largely untouched from its Hellcat origins. Black leather upholstery, Alcantara inserts, pink contrast accents, carbon fiber trim, and a starry LED headliner provide a modern, upscale cockpit.

Under the hood is the unmodified 6.2-liter supercharged V8 from the factory SRT Hellcat, pumping out 707 horsepower. Though the engine remains stock, the car features a custom exhaust that may boost output slightly beyond factory specs.

With Challenger production ending and the original ’Cuda long since retired, this hybrid creation offers enthusiasts a rare opportunity: classic looks with modern supercharged performance and drivability. Its uniqueness, show-quality execution, and low mileage are expected to drive intense bidding.

Mecum has not listed an official estimate, but given its rarity and craftsmanship, the final hammer price could significantly exceed the $70,000 average value of a standard 2022 Hellcat.
