Cascio Motors has a unique offering for collectors and off-road enthusiasts: a 1985 AM General M1045 HMMWV Open Top, available at no reserve on Bring A Trailer. Originally designed for the US military, this High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) underwent extensive refurbishment between 2014 and 2016. The restoration included refinishing the body in tan and rebuilding the 6.2-liter diesel V8 engine, alongside the replacement of numerous exterior, interior, suspension, and brake components.
The HMMWV, commonly known as the Humvee, is equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials. This particular model features a tan soft top and soft doors, providing an authentic military look. Additional details include 16.5″ 12-bolt beadlock wheels, 37×12.50″ military-specification tires, inboard disc brakes, LED headlights, an HID light bar, a heater, and four cloth-trimmed bucket seats.
The M1045 variant, produced primarily as an armament carrier, is finished in tan Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) and includes several new components installed during the refurbishment. These components include the windshield glass, rear bumper, soft top, soft doors, reflectors, airlift hooks, fender liners, side mirrors, and wipers. The exterior also features a pintle hitch, an Ibis Tek HID light bar, and LED headlights.
This Humvee rides on black-finished 16.5″ 12-bolt beadlock steel wheels with Goodyear Wrangler MT military-specification tires. The vehicle’s independent suspension system and inboard-mounted disc brakes ensure robust performance both on and off-road. The refurbishment project included the replacement of wheels, tires, emergency brake, power steering pump, idler arm, CV axle assemblies, shocks, brake booster, master cylinder, rotors, calipers, and lines.
Inside, the Humvee’s interior has been repainted and features four green cloth-trimmed bucket seats. Other interior details include a heater, green floor liners, three-point seatbelts, and auxiliary switches. The instrumentation panel includes a 60-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 3,000 miles, reflecting the distance traveled since the refurbishment. The total mileage is unknown. Additionally, the steering wheel, steering column, horn button, turn indicator, instrument bezel, and gauges have all been replaced.
The naturally aspirated 6.2-liter diesel V8, originally rated at 150 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, was rebuilt in 2014. Power is delivered to all four wheels through a 3L80 three-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials. The driveshafts and differentials, fitted with 2.56:1 gearing, were also replaced during the refurbishment.
This meticulously restored 1985 AM General M1045 HMMWV, identified by serial number 529316 and listed with a clean California title, represents a rare opportunity to own a piece of military history. Offered by Cascio Motors in Arizona, this Humvee is ready for new adventures, whether on rugged terrain or as a standout piece in a collection.
