Limited production and low miles means this Cobra a true collectible.
The 1994 model year was a big one for the Ford Mustang as it not only celebrated the 30th anniversary of Ford's pony car and ushered in fourth-gen Mustang, but it was also the third (and most recent) time that a Mustang had the prestigious opportunity to act as pace car for the Indianapolis 500. To celebrate this, Ford built 1,000 examples of the 1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Indy 500 pace car replica, and this one survives in excellent condition with extremely low miles.
Of the 1,000 replicas made, this one was the 871st built, and it survives in excellent condition thanks to great care and extremely low miles. The odometer shows just over 30,000 original miles, but the level of detail and care given to this car over the years is obvious. Not only does this Mustang show incredibly well, it also comes with details such as the trunk placard, Marti Report and laminated documents such as the window sticker and the SVT authentication certificate.
All of the 1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Indy 500 Pace Car replicas came painted in Rio Red with a tan top and a unique graphics package, and inside, these cars had a Saddle Tan interior with the Indy 500 logo embroidered on the front seats. Being the SVT Cobra, these cars were all powered by a 240-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8 and backed by a five-speed manual.
Corvettes and Camaros definitely get the lion's share of attention when it comes to Indianapolis 500 pace car replicas, but this 1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is an incredible piece of Indy 500 history. This Cobra would make a great addition to any collection, and while Streetside Classics has it listed $24,995, you can click HERE to make an offer.
