A rare, early electric-converted 1976 Porsche 912E, featuring EV West components and a sunroof, is now offered for sale.
An exceptionally rare 1976 Porsche 912E, restored and converted into one of the earliest electric Porsches for the 2009 SEMA Show, is now being offered for sale. Combining vintage German design with cutting-edge electric technology, this Venetian Blue coupe is a standout example of the growing EV restomod movement.

Originally one of just 2,092 Porsche 912Es built for the U.S. market—and one of only 500 equipped with a factory sunroof—this car underwent a full restoration before its initial electric conversion. In 2015, it was further upgraded with modern EV components from renowned supplier EV West, significantly enhancing its performance and efficiency.

Power comes from an AC-51 brushless AC motor paired with a Curtis 1239-8501 controller, running on 48 CALB 180 Ah LiFePO4 batteries. Supporting hardware includes a liquid cooling system, high-voltage heater kit, DC-to-DC converter, and a J1772 charging system for everyday usability. Despite its transformation, the car retains its classic Porsche styling, including five-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Falken tires and a Saddle Tan interior.

With only 6,711 miles driven since its restoration, the car remains in outstanding condition, though minor cosmetic imperfections such as small rock chips are noted. Some minor finishing work, including hooking up additional gauges and re-calibrating the voltmeter, would bring it to completion.
Included with the sale are keys and a comprehensive history of the vehicle’s conversion and upgrades.

Blending classic Porsche aesthetics with modern electric performance, this 1976 912E offers a rare opportunity to own a piece of EV history while enjoying one of Stuttgart’s most stylish designs—reimagined for the future.
