As one of the most admired British cars of all time, it doesn’t quite get any better than the E-Type.
This 1970 Jaguar XKE being offered at auction on Bring a Trailer is a prime example of Jaguar's Series II fixed-head coupe version. For 30 years, automotive author Joseph V. Limongelli owned this classic E-Type, in which time he refurbished and modified it. When it was acquired by the current owner in 2018, this car had already been repainted from its original Willow Green finish with a slightly lighter shade of the same color, had its black leather interior reupholstered, and its numbers-matching 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six and four-speed manual gearbox were both rebuilt.
This car is equipped with 15-inch knock-off wire wheels, headlight covers, Lotus Elan tail lights, triple SU carburetors, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, Vintage Air air conditioning, and a custom audio system. Recent service includes an oil change and inspection along with a resealing of the oil pan.
While this 1970 Jaguar XKE may not be considered show quality by some, it is a good looking example that would definitely qualify as a driver’s car. Service records, literature, a tool kit, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a signed copy of ‘Me and My E-Type: A Jaguar Adventure’ are all included in the sale. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to get behind the wheel of this awesome Jaguar with an interesting past.
