Broad Arrow will celebrate BMW’s heritage with a marque-exclusive auction during Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
Broad Arrow Auctions, the official auction partner of the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, will host a standalone BMW-exclusive auction on May 24 at Villa Erba, celebrating the German automaker’s legacy as the long-time host of the world-renowned concours event.
The BMW-only sale marks a significant addition to the two-day event, which will feature 70 high-caliber collector cars in total. The curated auction will offer some of the most desirable Bavarian automobiles from across seven decades, including standout examples of both production and motorsport heritage.
Among the highlights is a 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster, one of the most iconic and collectible BMWs ever produced. Finished in a timeless color combination and remarkably well-preserved, the example boasts single-family ownership for nearly half a century and remains highly original. It is expected to fetch between €2,000,000 and €2,300,000.
Also crossing the block is a 1980 BMW M1, modified in period by BMW Motorsport for music producer Frank Farian, known for his work with Boney M and Meat Loaf. Fitted with Procar-style enhancements and a custom leather interior, this red-on-black wedge coupe is expected to bring €450,000–€550,000.
Another 1981 BMW M1, formerly owned by Force India F1 co-founder Vijay Mallya, will be offered with an estimate of €475,000–€575,000. The car has seen global travel and long-term ownership and retains excellent provenance.
A 2000 BMW Z8, delivered new in Italy and finished in Titanium Silver with a Sport Red interior, rounds out the early highlights. With just over 23,000 km, the retro-modern roadster is estimated at €200,000–€225,000.
“This is a celebration of BMW’s enduring influence on motoring culture and its close connection with Villa d’Este,” said Joe Twyman, Broad Arrow’s EMEA VP of Sales. “These special cars are just the beginning of what promises to be a landmark sale.”
The auction is open to the public, with bidding available in person, online, via telephone, or absentee. Consignors still have time to submit additional standout BMW examples by contacting Broad Arrow specialists.
As BMW celebrates its historical role in shaping the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, this focused auction underscores its enduring legacy and cultural significance in the collector car world.
