Authorities Seek Stolen 1979 Pontiac Trans Am in Saline County

Rare white Trans Am with blue hood design stolen overnight in Saline County; authorities ask for public's help.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a stolen 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, taken sometime overnight between Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6.

According to officials, the vintage muscle car was taken along with other unspecified items during the late-night hours. The vehicle, described as white with a distinctive blue design on the hood, was not bearing a license plate at the time of the theft.

The sheriff’s office released a photo of the missing vehicle on social media, emphasizing its unique appearance and classic styling. The 1979 Trans Am is a highly recognizable model, made famous by its aggressive looks and cultural presence in late-1970s automotive performance.

Authorities have not yet identified any suspects and are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has information about the theft to come forward. Given the rarity of the car, especially in its described color configuration, officials hope someone may have spotted it being transported or stored.

The Trans Am, part of Pontiac’s Firebird line, remains a sought-after collector’s car. Models from the late ’70s, particularly with custom or factory graphics, are valued among enthusiasts for their styling and performance legacy.

Anyone with tips is encouraged to contact the Saline County Sheriff’s Office at (501) 303-5609 or submit information anonymously through their local crime tip line.

Deputies continue to investigate and are urging the public to remain vigilant.
