Broad Arrow Auctions Is Selling A One-of-a-Kind 2007 Porsche 911 GTS RSR Painted by Troy Lee

Rare 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR "Art Car" by Troy Lee Hits the Auction Block.

A unique 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, famed for its striking "Art Car" livery designed by Troy Lee, is set to captivate bidders at the upcoming Porsche Auction in partnership with Air|Water. This remarkable vehicle, chassis number WP0ZZZ99Z7S799913, holds a storied history in both competitive racing and artistic expression, making it a standout lot with an estimate of $650,000 to $750,000.

Originally purchased by Flying Lizard Motorsports from Porsche Motorsport, this 911 GT3 RSR not only competed in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) but also featured prominently in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2007. The car was driven by an impressive lineup of factory-supported drivers including Jörg Bergmeister, Marc Leib, Patrick Long, and Patrick Pilet. It boasts several GT2 class victories, notably at Petit Le Mans, Mid Ohio, and the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park.

What sets this vehicle apart is its transformation into an "Art Car" for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Designed by Troy Lee, the car was envisioned to "look like it's travelling 200 mph even while it is standing still." The livery was a radical departure from its traditional Flying Lizard silver and red, making a dramatic impact at Le Mans and subsequently at other major vintage racing events.

Following its retirement from active competition, the car underwent a meticulous restoration in 2009 by Jerry Woods Enterprises, reverting to its iconic Le Mans art livery. This restoration not only honored its racing pedigree but also cemented its status as a piece of mobile art. The car has since participated in significant events like the Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI and VII, and was showcased at the 2009 New York International Auto Show during the unveiling of the 2010 Porsche 911 GT3.

Offered with a comprehensive spares package, including suspension components and three sets of BBS wheels, this 911 GT3 RSR represents a rare opportunity to own a piece of Porsche racing history adorned with the creative vision of a renowned artist. This car is not just a collector's item but a testament to the blend of speed and style that defines the very essence of motorsport and automotive art.
